The Windmill Parmoulin knife is the world's most awarded cheese knife. It's specifically for hard cheeses (such as parmesan and pecorino). The unique sweeping lines create a cradle effect which cuts them more easily. Historically the shape is descended from curved Turkish sabres
Robert Herder Knives assumed the Windmill brand over 130 years ago. They're still a family company based in the traditional German cutlery centre of Solingen. Their kitchen knives have the warmth that only a wooden handle provides. Our parmoulin is in beautiful European plumwood. No chemical sealing agents are used, and the blade is fine glazed stainless steel - hand ground, oiled and polished. The Windmill Parmoulin measures 24 cm total, with a blade of 13 cm. It comes beautifully boxed with 5ml wood care jar of macadamia oil.
The Parmoulin is based on a unique knife called the Nesmuk developed by legendary 19th century American outdoorsman George W. Sears. It was one of his trinity of essential knives (along with the tomohawk, and the pocket knife)
