The Sanchez Soprano Ukulele is the easiest first step to stringed virtuosity. It only has four strings to tune, it doesn't hurt fingers, and any sized hand can play it. And it makes people smile.
The Soprano Ukulele (sic., USA spelling) is the standard , most popular and smallest of the four major Ukelele (sic., UK spelling) sizes. Our Sanchez Uke is 53cm long, has metal frets, and has geared machine heads which makes it a proper tunable instrument. It's best tuning is the famous "My Dog Has Fleas" C Major open string tuning of G C E A.
The Ukulele has existed in Hawaii since the 1880s -our little Sanchez beauties pay homage to this.
Uke exponents have included American Cliff Edwards (the man who sang 'When You Wish Upon a Star' for Disney), British music hall star George Fornby, and American musical anthropologist and eccentric Tiny Tim. The Uke renaissance in Australia began with its use in the 1990s by the late Hawaiian Israel Kamakawaiwo'ole on his medley of Over The Rainbow/What a Wonderful World.
The 21st century acoustic roots music resurgence saw the uke welcomed to polite company, where it subsequently provided the cheery opening to Train's Hey Soul Sister. Instrumental supremacy starts here.
