The Mondaine 35mm Evo is Mondaine's most famous design in a black face version. This is identical to the famed Mondaine white face classic in every way except the colour of its face. It's the Swiss Railway Watch. It's not fussy. It just tells the time very clearly and simply, and without the aid of numerals.
Its creation dates from 1944 when the revered Hans Hilfiker designed the Swiss Railway Clock for ease of reading on the railway stations of Switzerland. The famous red second hand was inspired by the paddle waved by the train guard at departure time. The Railway Clock became the most famous wall clock in the world. In 1986 the Mondaine Watch Company adapted Hilfiker's design to a more portable form.
This watch is in stainless steel with a curved mineral glass dome to gently magnify the 35mm face. It's water resistant, suits people who like black, and stands up well to envious glances.
