Mondaine Savonette Pocket Watch
The Mondaine Savonette II Pocket Watch is the definitive old school watch – a major statement in classicism with a quartz movement.
Pocket watches were the overwhelming choice of time tellers until the 20th Century. There's traditionally two types : the Lepine with the crown at 12 o'clock, and the Savonette with the crown at 3 o'clock. The Savonette style is also generally the one with a hinged lid.
Savonnette in French means 'little soap' and the watch gives the same sensual feeling of good will. The crown location on a savonette pocket watch makes it easier to open because of the location of your thumb. You push the crown to pop the lid. It gives a reassuring snap when you close it.
The Mondaine Savonette has a sizeable 50mm x 13mm case, with a 41mm diameter face, and a 410mm snake chain. The watch and chain are in stainless steel, whilst the face has a curved mineral crystal cover. It comes in a swank red leather pouch and looks most distinguished. All you need is a vest...
