Yellow Mountain Fur Peak Green Tea

Yellow Mountain Fur Peak Green Tea is one of the iconic teas of China. It's frequently described as having an orchid fragrance, a light refreshing taste, and is unusual because of its long thin leaves. It's one of the few teas which needs to be transported in cardboard cylinders because of the delicacy and length of its leaves.

Yellow Mountain is the great mountain range of Eastern China. Part of it is listed as a Unesco World Heritage site. Director James Cameron credits the area's ethereal nature as the basis for his onscreen world in Avatar.

Several teas come from the area, but the Fur Peak Green Tea is arguably the most prized. Whilst Yellow Mountain teas probably date back to the Ming Dynasty, the Fur Peak Green Tea (or Huangshan Maofeng) is thought to have been created quite recently in 1875. It's completely hand-made - harvested only in Spring, then roasted, baked, hand picked for uniformity, and hand-rolled.

Our Yellow Mountain Fur Peak Green Tea is the absolute real deal. From 1000metres altitude in Anhui Province in the Yellow Mountain range. This tea is from the Spring 2010 release. When it's gone, we'll have to wait for the Spring 2011 harvest.
