If you ever want to sit on the back step and wail soulfully at the moon, you'll need a Hohner Marine Band Harmonica. No other harp gives the same warmth, feel, and sense of history in your hands.
Sonny Boy Williamson, Little Walter, and Sonny Terry all wailed the blues on this harmonica. Bruce Springsteen's mournful harp solo on 'The River' was on a Marine Band, as was Bob Dylan's mighty squawking on 'Rainy Day Women.'
The Marine Band was named in 1896 for marching man John Philip Souza's band. Fortunately his harmonica soon fell into the wrong hands and was played by the African American men who provided the foundations for rock & roll.
