The Aris Simmermat is the crucial tool for simmering and slow cooking. We believe the Aris is the best simmer mat in the world. And Jamie Oliver and Stephanie Alexander agree (or at least use one). It gives wonderful low heat control of soups, curries, stews, rice, milk and things needing a double boiler.
Our Simmermat was created by New Zealand inventor Tom Tothill in 1997. Its secret is eight small hollow cones pressed into an enamel steel surface. This allows small contact points, avoids overheating, and lets things cook evenly. And prevents scorching and burning of cookware.
This is a new updated 2010 version of the Simmermat. As ever, it works on all surfaces including induction, ceramic and glass.
