Taylor of Old Bond Street have been the very model of a modern major British gent's grooming products company since 1854. The Sandalwood 100g Shave Soap is their signature product. It lathers easily and durably, and acts as a barrier to prevent nicks and burns. It's full of pure and natural products, is bereft of dodgy parabens, and is a gentle treat for sensitive skin. The hardwood bowl looks very stylish, and refills are readily available.

Sandalwood is the most enduring of fragrances – dating since at least Ancient Egypt, when it was frequently used for ceremonial occasions. It's used here in conjunction with (wait for it) cedar, rose, orange, rosemary, liquid amber, patchouli, vetive oil, geranium oil, and a predominance of sandalwood... to offer a subtle, sophisticated and richly masculine attractive scent. In perfume industry terms, the base notes are described as "fougere" which translates to fern-like, herbaceous or woody.

Taylor of Old Bond Street is a family company, founded by the great great grandfather of the current Chairman. Whilst originally on Old Bond Street in London, the company could possibly be currently called Taylor of #74 Jermyn Street – where it now trades in the cradle of male Brit style, among the likes of shirtmakers Turnbull & Asser, accessories specialists Alfred Dunhill, and bespoke shoemakers John Lobb. Jermyn Street is the home of the annual "Art of Being British Festival." Very good.

Legend has it that Taylor of Old Bond Street Sandalwood Shave Soap was used by Edward VIII of England, and much admired by Mrs Simpson. Which may explain the lack of a current Royal Warrant.
