Alessi Piccantino Chilli Scruncher
The Alessi Piccantino Chilli Scruncher stores dried chillis, and allows crushing and sprinkling at the table.
In parts of Italy, crushed chilli flakes are as much of a table staple as salt and pepper. It's apt that this comes from revered Italian design house Alessi.
Piccantino is made from silicon and stainless steel. It has 2 different sized openings to allow better sprinkling on a margarita pizza, spaghetti alio e oglio, or anything. And yes, it's supposed to look like a chilli.
The Italian word piccantino translates to "spicy". Extra spice is that the designer is expat Australian designer Jim Hannon-Tan. After being raised in Adelaide, and graduating from RMIT in Victoria, he's now Amsterdam based, and working with design headliners such as Magis, Capellini... and Alessi. Bravo.
