Ultrastar Sportsdisk Flying Disk
The mighty 175 gram Ultrastar Ultimate Disk is much sturdier than those toy ones. The extra weight means it's better suited to the world's 4th windiest capital (that's Perth) – more distance and stability.
It was created in 1981 by former world flying disk champ Jim Kenner. He wanted a better disk than his old Frisbee brand. His first test was throwing it against his garage wall.
'Ultimate disk' is the generic name for the sport involving Flying Disks. The "Ultimate Players Association' have based all their disk specifications on the Ultrastar for years. It's been their official tournament disk since 1981.
The Ultrastar Ultimate Disk was in use for the World Flying Disk Federation World Ultimate Club Championships 2006 – in Perth.
