Old Fashioned Kaleidoscope

Kaleidoscopes are a way to see magic and make everyone feel like a four year old. They're a tube containing mirrors, coloured glass, or paper which create patterns when lifted to the eye and rotated. They're one of the world's oldest optical toys ?

Our 15cm Old Fashioned Kaleidoscope is the classic first kaleidoscope, with prisms and mirrors all reflecting light and making multi-hued patterns as you rotate the end whilst holding the body and peering through the eyehole.

The word 'kaleidoscope' is from the Greek meaning 'watcher of beautiful forms'. Kaleidoscopes as we know them were first patented in 1817 by Scotsman Sir David Brewster.  150 years later Lennon & McCartney were to write of 'the girl with kaleidoscope eyes" in Lucy in The Sky With Diamonds.
