Panforte is one of Italy's most famous cakes. It dates to 13th century Italy, where it was a Tuscan Christmas treat.
Wheatbelt Panforte is from two WA rural women : Lake Grace's Pam Lannin, and Margaret Teasdale from Bruce Rock.
They use a secret weapon that the Italians don't have access to – Queensland's famous Buderim ginger.
Panforte literally means 'strong bread'. It's a rich chewy combination of fruit, nuts, spices and sugar honey syrup. There's no alcohol in this. Love and ginger give a unique aftertaste as is.
Great with cheese, coffee, or tea.
