Alessi's Anna G. Champagne Stopper is gloriously romantic – it keeps the sparkle in sparkling wines. And it comes from one of Italy's most prestigious design houses. It's even spiffier when suitably engraved.
Anna G. was allegedly modeled on a former girlfriend of designer, the Italian post-modernist architect Allesandro Mendini. He's done a range of acclaimed corkscrews and spice mills featuring Anna G., but The Good Store favours this 1998 creation for its hefty weight, visual appeal, and luxurious utility. It's not cheap, but what price beauty when there's good bubbly on the table ?
It's made from chrome plated zamac and 18/10 stainless steel, and is 16cm long. Having used this there's no going back to dangling teaspoons in the bottle's throat.
