The Clare Tin Whistle or Clare Penny Whistle is older than the Commonwealth of Australia. This whistle in two parts makes it one of the world's most portable musical instruments - it'll fit comfortably in a pocket. And sound lots better than that squeaky primary school descant recorder.
These traditional Whistles are hand made in brass with plastic fipple (mouthpiece) by Irish County Clare artisan David Le Bas. His father was Assay Master of the Company of Goldsmiths, Dublin.
The Clare Penny Whistle is, along with the bodhran and fiddle, one of the keystones of Irish traditional music. This two-piece whistle is in the key of D because it's the most common key for Irish music, as well as being the easiest key for beginners to play. This is wonderful for learners of music because its simple and inexpensive. And it can fit in your pocket.
