The Pintoy Chess Set is a chess set which is both portable, and fit to grace a coffee table. The hinged board folds over a concealed box which holds the pieces. The board rotates ingeniously to give access to them. The pieces are of the classic design endorsed by 19th century English chess master Howard Staunton. The King stands a very regal 6cm high.
This is also a chess set that the environmentally concerned can be proud of. Creator Pintoy is a wonderful Thai company which manufactures from renewable rubber wood without toxins. They've long specialised in beautiful simple wooden games, and this is a noble set indeed amidst a sea of chess sets with environmentally suspect origins.
