The Slinky Dog is the star of Toy Story the movie. This is the re-manufactured original little dachshund from James Industries in Pennsylvania - complete with metal coiled mid-section and tail, and plastic head and rear. Pull the cord and he stretches and contracts, and his tail will wag from side to side.
The box suggests that this is suitable for children 18 months and up. The Good Store has found it best suits a particular type of person over 30.
Slinky Dog was a 1952 successor to the classic 1945 Slinky metal coil. Staggeringly, the little dog was the result of an unsolicited set of drawings from a Slinky fan called Helen Malsted. She made a small fortune from her design without ever visiting the factory.
