The Little Black Songbook American favourites differs from the others in the series because it embraces the traditional rather than contemporary. Songs include hymns such as "the Old Rugged Cross, spirituals (Let My People Go), and classic American songs of Steven Foster and WC Handy (Home On The Range, The St Louis Blues). Also included are ceremonial anthems performed daily in the USA (Hail to The Chief, and The Star Spangled Banner).
Each song has full lyrics, and easy level guitar chord boxes (you supply the melody). The Little Black Songbook is a convenient size – at 12cm x 9cm, just small enough for backpacks and bags. There are 130 songs and 280 pages, the soft cover is durable and fits anywhere. And it's a great price.
