The Jailhouse Mug is the first new product in thirty five years by famed Dutch ceramicist Rob Brandt. After first coming to international attention in 1975 with his famous porcelain rendition of a Crumpled Cup, Brandt has turned his attention to the enamel mug.
This looks like an enamel mug that belongs next to a saddle cloth and RM Williams boots. When picked up, it reveals itself to be a handmade half-size porcelain version of the old enamel mug. Even those chipped bits are an illusion.
Mr Brandt was inspired to do this by a visit to a former Dutch prison.
