If the Alessi Zaha Hadid Cheese Grater was a garment at Paris Fashion week, it would be called a “piece”. It looks beautiful at table, whilst grating parmesan perfectly.

The late designer Dame Zaha Hadid was one of the world’s great architects, and the first woman to win the prestigious Pritzker Prize for Architecture (the equivalent of the Nobel Prize in the architecture world). Hadid’s venture into object design came at the invitation of famed Italian household design company Alessi.

Her grater is representative of her unique architecture style – she was famed for mastery of curves (her Heyder Aliyev Centre in Azerbaijan is claimed to contain not a single straight line).

Zaha Hadid named her grater “Forma” – the shape resembling the ‘form’ of a pebble washed by generations of water. The black base is in melamine, and the grater is made from mirror polished stainless steel.

The Good Store reckons this is as close as you can get to Table Art.
