Nachtmann Punk Tumbler Set (4 glasses) is crystalware for punk spirits - a hefty 3D collision of a 200 year old manufacturer of crystal glassware with the celebration of the Great Britain summer of Punk Rock in 1977 *

The nobbly texture of the tumblers reference the studs on the belts & leather collars of Syd Vicious, Siouxsie Sioux and their fellow punks.

These Punk Tumblers were created by young German ceramicist Anke Buchmann in 2017 when finishing a degree at London’s Central St Martin’s School of Arts – yes, former Art School of The Clash’s Joe Strummer.

Buchmann WAS surrounded by Brit Punk’s 40th celebrations at the time, and it inspired her Punk glassware design. The gleaming sparkle of genuine crystal plays ironically with a punk aesthetic.

Her glass design won Nachtmann Glassware’s annual NextGen Design Prize, and went on to win at the Good Design Awards 2017.

Anke Buchmann is well aware that most original punks were probably drinking straight from the bottle. If they had tumblers like these, they may well have opted for a glass.

*1977 was the year of debut albums by the Sex Pistols, The Clash, The Saints, The Damned, the re-issue of Blondie’s debut album, and the first TV appearance of Siouxsie and the Banshees
