Legend has it that the Todo Grater only exists because the late great inventor Richard Sapper was the designated grater in his household… and in 2004 became frustrated at how fiddly regular graters were for big men.
Sapper named his invention Todo which is Spanish for ‘The Lot’. His giant sized invention grates things easier and quicker. Sometimes in a single fell swoop.
In Australia, the Todo is wonderful for al fresco pasta meals with a bunch of people gathered around a big table on the patio.
Richard Sapper was one of the world’s greatest industrial designers (d. Dec 2015). He famously knocked back Steve Jobs’ offer as the Apple designer – Sapper was happy with his life in Europe and didn’t wish to move to California. Subsequently, when asked if he regretted turning Jobs down he said: “Sure I regret it – the man who then did it [Jonathan Ive] makes $30 million a year!”
Sapper’s products have won Italy’s revered Compasso d’Oro Design Award a record ten times. If pasta lovers or big people could vote, he’d have won eleven. The Todo Grater is a beautiful present for foodies and entertainers.
