The Lamy Dialog 3 is the world’s first twist action retractable fountain pen. Twist, and the nib emerges. Another twist and the nib retracts. The fountain pen can go safely into a breast or jacket pocket. There’s no leaking because the nib is upside down, and a little ball valve moves to close the opening on retraction.
The Lamy Dialogue 3’s minimalism is also aided by the retraction of the clip when the nib’s in use – the nib really does revert to being flush with the barrel. The Dialogue 3 is the creation of the great Swiss designer Franco Clivio who also did the mighty Pico (the world’s best small pen, according to us) for Lamy.
The Pen has a matte black finish, and a satisfying girth and heft to suit larger hands. It has a medium point 14kt duo coloured gold nib. There’s a cartridge refill provided, but Lamy’s Z26 converter will allow use of bottled ink (just ask and we’ll provide it gratis).
Needless to say, the Lamy Dialogue 3 is a worthy and valuable accessory for anyone in the habit of signing contracts and documents of value. And it’s a great pleasure to use.
