The Mondaine Wall Clock is the most famous wall clock in the world. Its sheer simplicity and elegance make it so. One glance and you know the time.
Revered engineer Hans Hilfiker was enlisted by Swiss Federal Railways in 1944. They wanted a wall clock that could be easily, quickly and accurately read on the railway stations of Switzerland. Tourists had difficulties adapting to a country where the trains ran precisely on time.
Hilfiker’s design was met with acclaim – right down to the famous red second hand, inspired by the red paddle waved by the station master at departure time. There’s a Mondaine Clock on every railway station in Switzerland. To this day, any authentic Mondaine clock (as well as each wristwatch) comes with the SBB inscription to signify its status as the official Swiss railways clock.
Mondaine’s Wall Clock is 25cm diameter, satin aluminium finish, quartz movement, two year warranty.
