The Snakes & Ladders Boardgame by Knox & Floyd is a loving reproduction of an early 20th century Indian edition – complete with a profusion of Sikhs and pythons.
This is totally appropriate since the game originated in ancient India. It was a morality game about how easy it was to go skidding downward in life. Interestingly – on the board game at least – it’s all down to luck at the throw of a die.
This Snakes and Ladders edition is for four players and comes nicely boxed with rules printed inside the lid, a 42cm square board, four wooden markers, one die, and a wooden shaker
