The Cord Roll “allows the user to keep their headphones and charging cables in one place untangled”. So says its WA born inventor Shane Thompson.
There are places for cords and buds, as well as a zippered pocket for spare batteries, adaptors and plugs.
Shane invented his Cord Roll through personal need. In his day job as a Qantas pilot, he found himself wanting to access his music all around the world (useless titbit : he’s a Killers fan). And being thwarted. Shane found that he spent more time un-jumbling cords than enjoying the music.
The Cord Roll owes its origins to when a little Shane Thompson used to spend Sunday afternoons with his beloved Grandad Albert – in Albert’s backyard shed in Mount Claremont, WA. They busily created things from wood, leather, metal and the like.
It awakened Shane’s interest in design, craft and problem solving. Years later it gave Shane the skills to untangle his personal music problem – in full grain cowhide. And commemorate the memory of his Grandad by naming his design company Afternoons With Albert.
